About

Where classic meets pop

Music was my first love

Night of the Proms is an annual tradition that has been bringing people together for decades around a shared passion: music that moves, surprises, and connects. Every year, our tour travels through Belgium and Germany, where, night after night, we bring that same unique magic to life for a loyal and enthusiastic audience.

At the heart of Night of the Proms is a powerful and instantly recognizable concept: pop and rock artists perform their greatest hits alongside the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra, the Backbone band, and the Fine Fleur choir. This gives familiar songs a new dimension—fuller, richer, and more emotional. Between performances, the orchestra takes the stage to perform iconic classical pieces, ensuring the evening constantly shifts between familiar pop moments and impressive orchestral passages. The result is a dynamic experience in which genres do not replace one another, but rather enhance each other.

An institution

What makes Night of the Proms truly special is its long history and lasting impact. Since its very first edition in 1985, the event has become a staple on the concert calendar. Generations of music lovers have watched the concept grow and evolve, while its core has always remained the same: bringing together pop and classical music at the highest level. Over the years, countless artists and orchestras have shared the stage, resulting in an impressive musical legacy that continues to grow today.

What once began as a single concert evening at the Sportpaleis (now the AFAS Dome), for some 13,500 students, has grown into a full-fledged and internationally recognized music format. Over the years, Night of the Proms has evolved into a major event that now tours Belgium and Germany annually, and has also performed at other European and American venues in the past. At its peak, there were no fewer than 63 shows on the calendar. Our stage has welcomed an impressive array of top international artists, from Simple Minds and Joe Cocker to Andrea Bocelli, Grace Jones, James Brown, and Macy Gray.
