Thanks to connections from his past at Virgin Records, Dirk Hohmeyer, responsible of the expansion of NotP in Germany, manages to persuade Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill to collaborate on Night of the Proms. Until then, all attempts to contact them went ignored by the agent of Simple Minds. The collaboration is a big hit, and the start of a long friendship. Deborah Harry, better known as Blondie, Alan Parsons, without Project but with 2 guest singers, and John Miles complete the bill. Together with classical pianist Wayne Marshall, John performs ‘All By Myself’.
