Ike Turner’s participation gives John Miles the (somewhat dubious) honour of playing with both Tina and er (controversial) husband. Sharleen Spiteri, frontwoman of Texas delivers a range of hits, and so do Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith of Tears For Fears, whose ‘Sowing the Seeds of Love’ stands out well in the symphonic version. Equally unforgettable is Tony Henry, the charismatic tenor, in addition to Rossini’s ‘Figaro’, including a hairdressing solo ‘on stage’, also gives some popular songs a unique operatic twist. Surprise guests this year are Udo, Jasper Steverlinck and Lara Fabian, who then performs for the first time in Flanders, where she was born.
